Good speakers know no leases

July 03, 2026

Yes. It was hot. Well, very hot, actually. But as everyone knows: there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. And with that, we'll immediately put this whole topic to rest, we don't want to hear anything more about "heat domes," it is what it is, anyway: Thank you very much, Mr. Plöger, we'll take it from here.

On today's agenda: let's see. MF DOOM is blasting from the speakers in our studio, and that's right: We're back in the studio and not outside, for reasons. In short: We're taking pictures and soon the neighbors will complain again because: music too loud, bass too boomy, and anyway: Does it have to be? Yes, it does. Taking photos is only possible, that is, when in the studio, with – as everyone knows – music. Louder. Rapp Snitch Knishes, for example. Should we share our playlist with you? Maybe better not. Or should we? "Write it in the comments," as our friends at StudiVZ always say.

Next track on the playlist: Freddie Gibbs – Thuggin. Good beat too, we heard and saw it live last time at PS1 in Brooklyn, 2019. Good stuff, highly recommended. In the background here, it's constantly flashing. Pardon me, but the suit here needs to be showcased, and by the way: We're doing this for you. Suit 'Erasmus', maybe we should mention that here. The lightest we can offer you in the suit category: Loro Piana, Zelander Twist, superfine Merino wool. Superfine, yes of course, what else. Wrinkle-free and wafer-thin and breathable. Moment: "Please also take a picture where you can see how breathable and light the fabric is, okay? Thanks, perfect, just like that!" So Erasmus, best horse in the stable, we like it a lot and when it's so hot: it's the only one that works.

Boom, next song: Yung Saint Paul – Spitzensteuersatz (Top Tax Rate): "VAT pre-notification is a terrible word for me." Yes, Paul, we feel you. So Johanna takes photos and Tommi does the lighting, Martin the music and the guy in front of the camera just stands around. The camera he's holding: a Yashica T4, Portra 400 film, good combo. Terry knew best. He took good photos with it, that much is certain, if you know what we mean.

But back to the Yashica: we like it a lot. Otherwise in use: Leica M11 or Hasselblad 907X 100C.

Westside Gunn – Why I Do ’Em Like That. Good song.

Right. We could go on writing forever here, the mood is good, the music even better. We had a few more thoughts on the La Marzocco Linea Mini, on Helmut Cool, on the Pinarello Dogma, on Parey's flower book and on the bucket hat, meaning fishing hats in general, those head coverings that are tellingly and very aptly called Kova Tembel in Israel: "crazy hat," probably better translated as "idiot's hat." But well, as always: We're getting sidetracked. So, everything next time then, next week, if you haven't unsubscribed by then. Now go fly fishing, or to the hairdresser, whatever one does on a Friday, enjoy the sun and turn up the radio. For us, as a send-off, so to speak:

J Dilla – So Far to Go.

Erasmus Suit

And yes... they really do exist!
