About

Allow us to introduce: Marc Anthony & Max Meyer-Abich. The masterminds behind ANTON MEYER. They founded the company in 2012 with the aim of dressing Germany's men better from Hamburg. This was later expanded to include Austria and, well, now the whole world, thanks to the internet. And what can we say, they are well on their way. But you know the catch with self-praise: writing about yourself is always a difficult undertaking. How ANTON MEYER came into being, what they have been doing since when, why and, above all, how: that should rather be described by outsiders.
No sooner said than done:

Bernhard Roetzel on ANTON MEYER

When we still paid in DM, there was the good 500-mark suit. Every solid men's outfitter had it in their assortment. Back then, it wasn't cheap. But it was good value for money. And many men loved this price range. Because they were looking for good value or preferred to have two or four suits for the price of one more expensive but not better suit to choose from. That was twenty years ago, we now pay in euros, the price ranges feel the same. And the idea of the good value suit is still relevant. Good value means that the suit is worth its price. In English, it's called "value for money" - which is the better description. Because value comes before money.

I believe that Marc Anthony and Max Meyer-Abich had this price range in mind when they came up with the concept for ANTON MEYER. I deliberately say "came up with" and not "developed". "Developed" sounds like project development and conception, like annoying meetings, long discussions, and tenacious work. "Came up with" sounds like two guys scheming something. Like fun, laughter, and pranks. So, like Marc Anthony and Max Meyer-Abich. Or ANTON MEYER. The company name was put together by the two from the nicknames they call each other. Anton and Meyer. Simple as that.

At first glance, Marc Anthony and Max Meyer-Abich are completely different. Marc Anthony, the charming, ageless gentleman who has been dressing men in bespoke for 20 years. Always slightly ironic, never sarcastic. Tall, with aristocratic long blond hair, always stylishly dressed. Whether in a three-piece tweed suit or a jacket and jeans. Always with him: a white shirt. The laugh lines prove that he is usually in a good mood, his typical facial expression consists of a basic smile that often turns into laughter. Max Meyer-Abich is visually the complementary contrast. Full beard. Glasses. Even taller than Marc Anthony. Stylistically difficult to categorize. Above the collar, Berlin-Mitte, below it, Elbvorort with a Barbour jacket, tweed jacket, and suede loafers. Linguistically, the two are then on the same level again. Can they ever be serious? The keywords for gags and wordplay fly back and forth. Neil Simon would have loved it.

It's particularly fun to watch the two of them during collection development. Marc Anthony stands in the office in a three-piece suit, balancing a cup of coffee to his desk. Max Meyer-Abich comes in wearing a sweater, jeans, and a Barbour jacket. A glance at the wool lining tells the connoisseur that it's the "Northumbria," the long model made of "heavy thornproof" with wool lining. He pulls out a bundle of linen fabric samples from a large inner pocket and lays it open on the table in front of Marc Anthony. Max: "Shouldn't we make this into a suit?" Marc: "No, just a jacket. With white trousers." Max: "White trousers?" Marc: "Of course." Max looks at Marc skeptically. Marc: "Yes! Let's do it." Max: "Let's do it!" Then both laugh.

What seems easy is in reality the result of disciplined work. But you should never feel it. That would be uncouth. And uncool. ANTON MEYER is a total work of art precisely composed down to every detail; customers get a "total look" from the store design to the suits to the smallest accessory. However, you never notice that the entire look comes from one store. That would again be styleless. But it is true that men like to get the whole thing done in one go. So not a suit from outfitter A, a shirt from store B, shoes from C, and a coat from D. That takes far too much time, and actually you'd rather go to lunch with friends as quickly as possible. At ANTON MEYER, you get everything from a single source. Right down to formalwear. And that really is nowhere else. Dinner jackets, tailcoats, and morning coats with all accessories, and then also well-cut and tastefully made down to every detail. Anton and Meyer really thought that through well.
